How wireless AirPlay speakers work

AirPlay is a technology used by Apple products to stream audio and video to compatible devices. Using AirPlay, you can stream media between multiple AirPlay compatible devices on the same network, including TVs and stereo systems.

At the tap of a button, AirPlay lets you wirelessly stream music from any AirPlay-compatible device (iPad, iPod, iPhone or computer) to your wireless enabled speaker through your home or office network.

Simply press the AirPlay button on any AirPlay enabled device to play music through any of our AirPlay speakers.

Benefits of AirPlay

  • CD Quality

AirPlay Direct uses lossless technology. An AirPlay stream is capable of supporting a 44.1kHz sampling rate – the same quality as the Apple Lossless Audio Codec. This means that AirPlay is capable of playing CD-quality music on your AirPlay speakers or device, as well as compressed material.

  • Distance

AirPlay can play over much greater distances than Bluetooth. Instead of the 10-20 meter range of Bluetooth, AirPlay is limited only by the reach of the Wi-Fi network over which it connects.

  • Direct Control

AirPlay offers direct communication between the iOS device and the AirPlay speaker, including volume control. When using AirPlay you can control the volume of each AirPlay speaker.

  • Track Metadata

Audio streams carry track information, including artist and song title, which the receiver can show on its graphical display.

  • Keep Playing

AirPlay works in the background, so you have full use of your Apple device for other things, like checking e-mail, updating your Facebook status – even playing ‘Angry Birds’.

  • Easy Set-Up

Once you’ve enabled AirPlay on each of your devices, the system works without any complicated configuration.
